Experience the beginning like never before...
God seeks a partner in Creation. Who will rise to embody God’s ethical clarity and moral courage, forming the foundation of a just and compassionate world?
From the supernal first light of Creation, through the Garden in Eden, to the flood that resets the world and the great confusion of language, follow the generations of Adam, Ḥava, and Noaḥ as they navigate the tension between divine potential and human fallibility.
Writer and producer Jordan B. Gorfinkel (Batman, Passover Haggadah Graphic Novel) and a creative team headlined by Israeli artist Yael Nathan (Star Wars, Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel: Esther) reveal the “secret origin” of the universe anew: not as distant memory, but as enduring truth, rooted in millennia of Jewish tradition and rendered in a quintessentially Jewish visual language and scholarship that joins cinematic grandeur with exegetical depth.
The Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel series presents the unabridged Hebrew biblical text in the classic Koren typeface, alongside graphic novel storytelling that integrates the English translation with sophisticated illustration, bringing the biblical narrative to life and hidden layers of meaning to light. A multidisciplinary team of world-class artistic talent, drawing on scholarly expertise in Tanakh, Midrash, archaeology, history, and more, spares no effort to render each biblical work with authenticity, delivering a rewarding blend of textual clarity, interpretive depth, and artistic nuance.
Bereshit, Volume 1: The Beginning is suitable for year-round study, enjoyment, and contemplation.
